1st, I would just like to publicly thank Courtney Parks for all the amazing work she does in organizing all things nursery for our church! πππ She is a TRUE blessing to our entire body and must of what we do couldn’t be done without her hard work behind the scenes! We LOVE and APPRECIATE ALL you do for the littles AND us ma’am! You are FOR REAL the π£.com and true MVP!! ππ»ππ»ππ
With THAT said…..I am fixing to stomp the mess out of some toes right now….including my own, as I have been guilty of it myself…πͺ
So, in every church I have ever been in, the nursery is so very overlooked as a ministry. But, I would personally venture out and say it is in fact one of THE MOST important ministries any church has! π―
Without it there’s A LOT if folks who couldn’t attend church at all, or at the very least they couldn’t get all of what God had for them from the service or event because they are too busy focusing on their child(ren) who they feel is distracting or whatever the case may be…π Not to mention the ones who still think “kids don’t belong in the sanctuary”…..um, question? So, if there’s no nursery available, where do you want them? Should people with kids just not go to church? π€·π»ββοΈ
As someone who has worked in many nurseries in my day I can honestly say its TOUGH. If you think I am wrong….well, there’s a HUGE need in 90% of churches out there, so WHY aren’t you helping? π€·π»ββοΈ I mean if it’s so simple….or is only a few hrs out of your week/month why aren’t you helping? I will tell you why. Taking care of other’s children WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST is HARD!! That is why! π±
It is one of the first questions I hear asked when ANY event is going on (regular service or anything else) “Will there be child care?” Everyone wants child care available to them…but no one wants to care for the children! π€·π»ββοΈπͺ
And can I add, while I’m on my box, you don’t HAVE to have kids in nursery to help there! This is East Texas, and (most) everyone likes to go to high school football games, but not everyone who goes has a team member playing….they go for support. π So why don’t we do the same for the coming generations (aka the children)? π§πΆπΌ How can you support children you ask? Well, you can help them have a safe caring place to go while their parents get enriched and and become better parents as they learn about the love of Christ. π€·π»ββοΈ
I also hear a lot of “I’m not being used by my church!” Or “there’s no place available for me to serve….” BUT, have you asked your nursery (or children’s church) coordinator if they need help? π€·π»ββοΈ Chances are THEY DO! Let’s look at it this way. If you have 1 nursery and 12 people volunteer to be on a rotation you’re only personally going to be in there once every 3 months or so…..that’s only 4 times a year y’all! π³π€ Seriously! 4 TIMES! Out of a whole year.
Also, if you’re helping in the less desirable ministries in your church, you’ll be more likely (more often than not) to be asked when the “more fun” stuff is available…. why? Because God rewards FAITHFULNESS! #readthatagain GOD REWARDS FAITHFULNESS! How do I know that? The word says so! In Luke it says “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.” And in Matthew it says “Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.” And there are more…. but I think my point is made…..if you want more, you must give more…. plain and simple!
Also, I am 100% sure JESUS Himself said βLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.β He LOVED the littles y’all!!!! π§πΆπ
I am personally VERY thankful and blessed to have such awesome ladies in our body who step up and help in the area, but also know that even those of us who are helping don’t always see it as a top priority ministry….πͺπͺπͺ I’ve been guilty myself far too often.
Anyway, those are my thoughts backed up with some scripture…..that is all I have for this subject.
So, if I offended you this eve, I’m not sorry….not even a little, as I have prayed and asked Holy Spirit to help me bring this word in a loving but real manner. So….if you ARE offended, before you get mad at me or make an ugly comment defending yourself or someone else, do me (and yourself) a favor and ask Holy Spirit to search your heart and show you WHY you’re offended…. are you REALLY offended? Or are you just convicted? I am NOT by any means attacking ANYONE….I offended/convicted myself during this as well….that’s why I felt so lead to speak up in it π€·π»ββοΈ
It is just something that’s been on my heart and I needed to release it.
To all that made it this far, thank you for reading! ππ»
For all that volunteer in the area (at our church and ALL others), thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless you above and beyond for your faithfulness!ππ»ππ»
I really do love you all.π None of this has been said to hurt anyone, however, sometimes the truth and correction are painful….π€·π»ββοΈ I know, because it sung me when I was hit with it too….πͺ
Edit:ππ»ππ»ππ» PLEASE FORGIVE ME Marissa Lenox for not adding you to this post! I have seen such a change in the littles since you have jumped on board with Courtney! Seriously, you “behind the scenes” ladies don’t get enough recognition! My apologies girl! π
