Testimony Tuesdays – Betty Carroll

Q: My first recollection of being in church was…

I was 6yrs old and my first stepfather’s mom, might I say a Mormon woman would take me down the road when she visited to the Baptist church.

Q: The closest I have felt to God in my life was…

He was my security as a child for sure my best friend. But I would say the closest I felt to god was sitting in Rusk County Jail in November 2017-January 2018. In these moments I just felt his word I was truly getting to know who he was and what his word said.

Q: The time I have felt the greatest doubt or distance from God was…

I was 12-13 years old and It seemed like the people I loved were passing away. My life at home was still in shambles I felt at this time God was not there, how would a God treat me this way and allow me to feel like this? Why would such a great God deal such horrible hands to the people that I was around? Hearing my friends and their tragic life adventures with my own as well is he real and did he really care?? He is real and he does care.

Q: If I could thank God for just one incident in my life it would be ______ and why?

I would thank him for my children. There is really so much to thank him for, but this was a prayer that he truly answered. I would thank him for allowing me to raise them and teach them. I would thank him for allowing me to give them a life I could have only dreamed to have as a child. Most of all I thank him for this newfound life and that he gave his only son to die on the cross to save our wretched souls.

Q: If I could thank God for just one person in my faith journey it would be _______ and why?

I would thank him for his Son Jesus Christ. Without Jesus, I would have had no chance of forgiveness and repentance.

Q: If I could name a turning point in my life for my relationship with God it would be ________

and why?

My turning point was walking barefoot lost to the world no children no life to truly live demonic possessed by all that was around. I remember the holy spirit inside of me I just started to sing in tongues walking down that road late at night. I’m sure if anyone had seen me, they would have thought me to have truly lost it and gone crazy. The holy spirit inside of me was reaching up to save what was left of me at that time. I soon later went to Gregg County jail God rescued me from my crime and let me go free of charge, right back to that hectic life I went but only for a couple of days. I went to the Hwy 80 women’s mission. Within just a day of being there, I was invited to an Apostolic church and there I received Christ back in my heart to walk this journey as an adult next to my Lord and Savior.

If I had to tell someone why I am a Christian, I would have to say…

I have a Faith in Jesus Christ, without him by my side I am nothing but a wreck, I am not whom you see today without my walk with Jesus I am a mess. I walk with him because he truly did pull me out of a life of misery, a life of tragic events. I may have thought in my youth he wasn’t there, but he was only building me to be who I am as you see me now. Without God without Jesus, I am nothing and I was nothing living for nothing walking for nothing. God has truly restored my family my mind my life.
